Clean power continues to expand at a rapid pace across the world. According to the International Energy Agency’s Electricity Mid-Year Update 2025, wind and solar PV are expected to cover more than 90% of the world’s increase in global electricity demand. Meanwhile, both coal and gas are expected to see net decreases this year.
It’s expected that renewable power sources will overtake coal in total power generation sometime in 2025 or by 2026 at the latest.
